Making Education Work Better for Patient Care
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Bringing different groups together to focus on a common goal rather than vested priorities is vital if a patient-centred strategy is to be achieved. Meetings facilitated by an independent group can be guided to enable stakeholders to focus on a common issue rather than individual considerations.
From the perspective of service delivery, engagement of stakeholders means getting all of the relevant decision-making parties involved and committed to achieving change. Alternatively, engagement could take the form of key opinion leaders finding common agreement for management of a particular disease or side effect for which there was no published recommendation. Such agreement could then facilitate the developed of management guidelines or a publication of consensus.
Mediate work with clients to achieve this through use of a range of activities such as:
• Facilitated stakeholder discussions
• Workshops
• Sharing of best practice
• Consensus meetings
• Collaborations.
